Body Image Education

For my capstone project, I focused on researching about adolescent body image and creating educational tools and resources for middle school-aged students. I first spent months researching topics such as media effects on body image, beauty ideals, and how to help reduce body image struggles. As part of this project, I worked in conjunction with Ms. Opbroek, the 7th grade health teacher, to create and implement a 2-lesson curriculum on body image that was taught to all students in the 7th grade health class. The culmination of this project was the creation of an educational podcast geared towards kids and teens with the goal of diminishing body image struggles and spreading awareness about the prevalence of body image in adolescence.
